Intel is coming with an ultrafast 5G modem with 6Gb/s @it’s peak
Intel just launched its XMM 8160 5G modem with a peak speed of 6Gb/s for better internet connectivity. This speed is almost 6 times the LTE network. Intel says that “this modem will be available from the middle of 2019, And from 2020 there will first with 5G support”.
This modem allows manufacturers to create smaller and more power efficient devices using its single-chip multimode baseband capability. This means it will support brand new standard for 5G new Radio (NR), including standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes, as well as 4G, 3G, and 2G legacy radios in a single chipset.
Apart from this at Intel’s AI developer Conference in Beijing, they announced it’s making the process of imparting intelligence into smart home gadgets and other network edge devices faster and easier thanks to the company’s latest invention: the Neural Compute Stick 2.
