Intel joins with Facebook to develop AI chip

This year’s CES was full of surprises and revealed mind-blowing projects under development.

One of the major revelations was the Intel Corp press conference. They talked about working with Facebook Inc on finishing a new artificial intelligence chip in the second half of this year. As a result, this could help in providing the hold of a fast-growing segment of the artificial intelligence computing market.

Moreover, the new chip will help with inference i.e the process of taking an artificial intelligence algorithm and putting it to use. A typical example is the tagging of friends in a pic automatically.

It is a component of the system that applies logical rules to the knowledge base to deduce new information. The first inference engines were components of expert systems. The typical expert system consisted of a knowledge base and an inference engine. The knowledge base stored facts about the world. The inference engine applies logical rules to the knowledge base and deduced new knowledge.

A few other developments they talked about included :

Autonomous Vehicles

Intel and Mobileye promise to develop a proper algorithm for the functioning of an Autonomous Vehicle that has the human senses of caution and safety. Also, these vehicles would avoid any kind of accident no matter what move the other vehicle makes.

New Intel Processors

The first Intel Core i9 desktop processor will now be available for the mainstream users. Best in class, the i9-9900K with 16MB of cache and Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology cranks maximum turbo frequency up to blazing 5.0 GHz. This would reduce the time taken resolve huge workloads. As a result, the gaming experience would become more awesome.
